The following notification was sent to all Surescripts Enterprise Services customers on April 8th 2022.

We are contacting you to inform you that effective December 31, 2023, Surescripts will no longer support the Surescripts Enterprise Services (SES) product suite. Surescripts is contacting you because your organization is affected by this notice and is using at least one of the products listed below.

Surescripts Enterprise Services (SES) is an on-premises solution that was developed to address several needs at the time. For many customers, these solutions and products have worked well over the years. However, there are now excellent options available to meet customers’ needs. Surescripts has not been actively selling or promoting these products for at least six months.

Why are the SES products being retired?

Our purpose at Surescripts is to serve the nation with the single most trusted and capable health-information network, built to increase patient safety, lower costs, and ensure quality care. To that end, our solutions rest on the power of the Surescripts network, built to maintain industry-leading reliability, security, and scalability.

The SES solutions sit outside of this focus and no longer align with our long-term business objectives. Because of this, the decision has been made to retire these solutions, and give customers lead time to evaluate other options.

What will happen on December 31, 2023?

Surescripts will no longer provide technical support, bug fixes or security patches. Effective December 31, 2023, Surescripts will no longer transmit Direct Messages for SES solutions, which could lead to severe disruptions to providers who may be relying on these solutions.

Transactions for the Secure Messaging and Patient Portal will no longer transmit messages on December 31, 2023, which will cause some services to stop functioning, including (but not limited to):

  • Direct Messaging and corresponding functionality, such as Surescripts directory search
  • Automated Clinical Messaging: Auto Document Distribution to Providers, Network Messaging, Partner Chart Access, and Clinical Data Importer modules

As you make plans to migrate to new solutions, please remember to submit a notice of termination to Surescripts at least 30 days ahead of time. This early notification will help reduce the overall administrative burden of your migration and allow our Finance team to process all invoices in a timely manner.

The products listed above may not be familiar to everyone in the organization. We recommend that this message be forwarded to the following groups at your organization: Business Leadership, Information Technology Leadership, and Clinical Staff Leadership.

Implement a new product or solution to meet your needs.

We strongly urge you to begin your process of evaluation and selection of a new solution for your affected product. It is our experience that the process of evaluating, selecting, and implementing another solution or product can take months. These can be complex implementations that may involve change management and training to fully adopt the new product.
